Quixote first bay sail

Sunday, August 7th, 2011

First SF bay sail of S/V Quixote. Brian and Bambi, Kevin D and Elizabeth D, Betsy and Mel, and of course Heather and CBug. Eli brought a nice bottle of Roederer to toast and casually christen.

Up to the gate reaching, outside to bash a few ocean swells, gybe, gybe, gybe, grab a mooring ball for beers and lunch at Alaya cove, back in time for dinner.

Took Charlotte out for her first sail at 3 months 1 day old. Front pack plus inflatable vest for mom, nervousness and north bay flat water cruising for skipper dad. Help from Uncle Aron and friends Bob and winemaker Aaron. Pictures to (maybe) follow.

BVI economic stimulus special

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

HKE and I took a (hopefully well-deserved) week off and headed back down to the BVI for a week of cruising with my brother Mike and his wife. We rented a Beneteau 352, the smallest boat I’ve ever chartered.  It turned  out to be a perfect size for two friendly couples, and really economical with the “captain’s discount” and the “holy crap no one rents sailboats during great depression 2.0 discount”.

Swim, sail, anchor, snorkle, drink, sail, anchor, drink, snorkel, drink, swim.

Plus Sixteen in the doublehanded Pacific Cup

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Paul from the Olson 911 “Plus Sixteen”, who was a huge help in our TransPac Campaign (giving us a #4 jib, as well as a ton of helpful advice) is racing in the double-handed division of the Pacific Cup.

Best of luck, Paul. Stay safe, stay sane.

Update: Paul and Tony have taken 2nd in the double-handed catagory. Congrats!
